The story
Greece selected the phoenix in 1828; the first coins were minted in 1829 bearing 1828 dates. Decision, inscription date and minting are distinct observations. [1]
Otto’s decree replaced the phoenix with the drachma. [2]
Turning points
Unit standard adoption
The phoenix was valued at one sixth of the Spanish dollar. A valuation standard, not evidence that all dollars were compulsorily converted into phoenixes. [3]
