The story
Soviet rubles entered Lithuania at 0.9 ruble per litas. The rate did not protect all deposits. Litas circulated alongside rubles until March 1941. [1]
Lithuania’s interwar litas was prohibited under Soviet rule. [2]
Replacement by an existing currency
This conversion belongs to the history of the retiring unit. It does not make that unit an ancestor of the currency adopted.
Turning points
Currency replacement
Lithuania introduced litas and began exchanging ostmarks. A floating ostmark conversion is not assigned an invented single fixed ratio. [3]
