The story
Gambian national notes began on October 5, 1964; the central bank took over on March 1, 1971. [1]
Indexed CBG text dates the currency ordinance’s operation to October 1, 1964 and the national notes four days later. [2]
Indexed CBG text gives November 21, 1966 for national coin introduction, conflicting with the 1965 date repeated by Krus–Schuler. [3]
Turning points
Unit replacement
A US Treasury notice records Gambian decimalization effective July 1, 1971, with five dalasis replacing one pound. [4]
