The story
The issuer dates introduction of the rial Omani name/currency to 1972, following the earlier national-currency phase managed by the Muscat Currency Authority. [1]
The Omani rial continued the rial Saidi at equal value. A naming/issue stage on one currency line. [2]
Turning points
Territorial currency replacement
Oman replaced Gulf rupees with the rial Saidi. 100 Gulf rupees converted to 7.5 rials; other circulating coin inputs remain open. [3]
