The story
In June 1976 the Vientiane kip was withdrawn in favour of the separately circulating Liberation kip, at 20:1; the Liberation kip belongs to the modern Lao kip continuity despite its 1979 rescaling. No precise 1976 day asserted. [1]
Replacement by an existing currency
This conversion belongs to the history of the retiring unit. It does not make that unit an ancestor of the currency adopted.
