The story
Harbin dayang was accepted for provincial taxes and functioned as a locally differentiated regional currency across multiple issuers. [1]
Manchukuo currency consolidation absorbed the Harbin dayang regional tax/payment unit; the Guangxin-issued Harbin currency was compulsorily redeemed at1.25dayang per1Manchukuo yuan. This names one actual local predecessor, not all provincial currencies. [2]
